The School: St Marys and St Johns

The students in Years 5-7 at the Barnet based St Mary’s and St John’s focused on their enterprise skills throughout the day. They were building on the successes they had already had this year in their Enabling Enterprise lesson time projects. Which, amongst others, had seen Year 7 develop their own fundraising events.

The Challenge: Social Entrepreneur

As a way of examining our society, the students were challenged with designing a social enterprise that would help a group in need of help within our society. Having learnt what a social enterprise is, they then focused on their ability to solve problems and aimed high for the biggest impact on society.

The Results:

All of the teams demonstrated great teamwork as they shared their ideas, collaborating to solve their chosen problem. They impressed by addressing the issues at hand with great maturity and depth of understanding. The creativity that was on show in the marketing materials was incredible and lent to the vibrant atmosphere in the end of day trade fair that included all of Year 7 as well as groups from Years 5 and 6.

What they said:

  • “We chose to do something for homeless people, so that they have someone to speak for them” – Student,

Well done to everyone who was involved!
